Rocky Mountain Field Seminars      

 

Making Memories: Kids' Photojournaling in Rocky Mountain National Park

Location:    Meeting spot is at the Moraine Park Visitor Center located down Bear Lake Road before the Moraine Park Campground/Fern and Cub Lake Road turnoff.  Please drop children off by the front doors of the visitor center.

 

Time:     9:00 AM - 12:30 PM

                       

Course Description:   Sharing photographs and stories is a great way to tell others about a fun and exciting vacation.  This photo-journaling adventure will combine the art of taking photos with writing about time spent in Rocky Mountain National Park to create a journal that will last a lifetime. Kids will stroll along the Big Thompson River for inspiration then capture images which may include wildlife and beautiful scenery.  Afterwards, kids can find a quiet spot to reflect on all the fun they have had by writing down their thoughts.  Journals will be provided and participants can use the journal on future trips as well!

 

Course Level:  II 

Short-distance walks on primarily level terrain

 

Expectations:  Professional conduct will be expected from participants at all times.  Individual ideas will be respected.  Except during course breaks, cellular phones, pagers, and personal entertainment devices are strictly prohibited in the classroom and during field sessions.

 

Tentative Course Schedule:

  9:00AM

Meet and greet at Moraine Visitors Center

  9:15 AM

Getting to know your camera/design cover art for journal.

10:00 AM

Walk down to the river

10:20 AM       

Start taking pictures and have a snack

11:15 AM

Sit under ponderosa and journal about the pictures and experience

12:00 PM

Hike back to the Moraine Visitors Center and print pictures to attach to journal.

 

What to Bring:

         Snack, energy bars, Water

         Sunscreen

         Walking shoes or sneakers

         Camera (Instructor will have a few provided.) 

Note:  Rocky Mountain Field Seminars recommends that participants for all courses dress in layers and wear comfortable, sturdy hiking boots/shoes.  Participants should be prepared for sudden changes in temperature and weather conditions.
